Vicio has raised €17 million in a financing round led by venture capital firm Iris Ventures, in which Barlon Capital companies, managed by Javier Rubió and in which football players Leo Messi and Antoine Griezmann, among others, have also participated. The transaction will allow the hamburger chain to tackle its expansion plan in Madrid and Barcelona and its debut in other secondary cities.
Across Legal has advised Inderhabs Capital on this transaction. Iván Moll, Víctor Martín and Borja Vallejo have formed the team of the firm involved in this deal.
In an interview with Cinco Días, Aleix Puig, co-founder and CEO of Vicio, said: “The entry of new prestigious investors not only validates our business model, but also allows us to take a leap forward and position ourselves as one of the leading players in the sector”. And that means making the leap from food delivery to the opening of restaurants.
The chain currently has 15 outlets in and around Madrid and Barcelona. The last three additions have been in Barcelona, Sant Cugat del Vallés and Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid). The objective, according to Puig, is to continue growing in both locations and to start expanding the footprint in Zaragoza and in two other large Andalusian cities yet to be confirmed. “We want to be present in the main cities of Spain in less than three months,” says Puig. “We are a brand where a very important part of the revenue comes from home delivery and now we are going to tighten up on our commitment to open restaurants in central locations.”
