Across Legal has closed the signing of Cécile Auvieux, who joins the firm as an Associate, with the aim of strengthening the Technology Law department, led by Malcolm Bain and Manuel Martínez. In addition, Gerard Andreu, specialized in European data protection law, has also joined the firm.
With these additions, Across Legal consolidates a key department for the firm. Technology law is increasingly growing as a result of the strong digitalization that businesses are experiencing, thanks also to technologies such as artificial intelligence, deep learning, blockchain, bioinformatics and the Internet of Things. Malcolm Bain, Partner at Across Legal, says: “The market is at a turning point, with an unstoppable boom in the data protection and open source segment, NFTs and the metaverse”.
On the other hand, the firm is in full growth process and has made other signings: Cristina Sánchez has joined the team led by Sarah Schwart, specialized in M&A and venture capital with an international component, while Patricia Cadahía has joined the area of commercial, tax and fiscal law.
Cécile Auvieux specialises in advising on technology projects, data protection, industrial and intellectual property, as well as conducting due diligence on IT IP in M&A and venture capital transactions. She has developed her professional career in international law firms and companies such as Genentech (United States), Norton Rose Fulbright LLP and D’Ornano+Co (France). Cécile holds a law degree and a Master’s degree in international law from Panthéon-Assas University (Paris), as well as an LLM in intellectual property law and commercial law from McGill University (Montréal).
Gerard Andreu specialises in European data protection law. He also holds a Law Degree and a Master’s Degree in European Personal Data Protection Law from the University of Barcelona.
Ignacio Lacasa, Managing Partner of Across Legal, says that the firm aims to grow strongly and could make new recruitments in the short term: “The market is more active than ever in all of our areas of activity. In mergers and acquisitions, international investors and multinationals are increasingly setting their sights on Spain, with start-ups and emerging companies that are much more professionalised. At the firm, the technology sector is one of the most active sectors, both in terms of investments and financing rounds, as well as for our IP IT department”. Across Legal recently advised on the sale of Clevertask to the technology multinational Alten.
