Manuel Martínez

Manuel was admitted as a lawyer in 1991 (ICAB) with doctoral courses in intellectual property (IP) and information and communications technologies (ICT).From then on, he drafts contracts and carries out administrative, judicial and arbitration procedures in these areas.

From 1996 to 2001 he was a researcher at IESE (University of Navarra) and a managing member at The Information Highway Group with whom he coordinated several European ICT R&D projects. In 2006 he was an independent examiner for the European Commission in the study related to the so-called Software Patent Directive.

He has written and taught courses and seminars related to all legal aspects of IP and ICT in several universities. Along with other international events, he has also been a speaker at the 3rd International GPLv3.

From 2001 to 2006 he was also responsible for the ICT department of Baker and McKenzie Barcelona. In 2006, together with his partner Malcolm Bain, he founded his own Law firm “id- law partners” as a boutique specializing in IP and ICT that represented in 2010 Bruguera, Garcia-Bragado, Miller & Abogados. In May 2018, both Malcolm Bain and Manuel Martinez merged “id- law partners” with Across Legal.

Since 2014, as his second consecutive term, Manuel Martinez is President of the ICT Section of ICAB, having previously been Vice President of the PI Section
